Pharmaceutically used as an antacid and laxative to inhibit and alleviate hyperacidity, gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer. The neutralization of gastric acid is strong, slow and lasting, and does not produce carbon dioxide. It can also be used as food grade magnesium oxide.
